I probably spoke too soon as the dinner wasn’t really blog-worthy (not that it was bad, it was rather like an upscale Chipotle), but the rehearsal dinner was held in a local brewery, Ore Dock Brewing Company. We only tried two beers, but they were quite nice: I tried the porter and Adrienne tried the Beach Bum Wheat. The porter was dark and heavy but smooth with no bitter aftertaste. Nice, but heavy. Might have been improved by turning the temperature of the beer up a few degrees, that often brings out the flavor of the darker beers a little more. The Beach Bum Wheat was quite nice – typically I steer away from wheat beers because I get sinus congestion (I can’t explain it), but this didn’t do it to me. It had a very pleasant summer taste with excellent mouth-feel. It was almost as if it had been brewed to activate tastebud everywhere in your mouth, not just on the tongue. It was really a great beer.
After the rehearsal dinner, Adrienne and I drove down to Presque Isle, which the brochure tells me is a “prominent headland” which is a geographical term to which I was previously unexposed. I was under the impression this was an Isle or island, but it’s rather like a skin tag but with land and water (aren’t you glad you clicked there?). There’s a paved loop around the giant skin tag-like land mass that runs counter-clockwise with walking trails that come off of it. We went most of the way around the loop until we found what we were looking for – a small walk-out to a place called Sunset Point. I was determined on this trip to get a good sunset picture, possibly to replace the Key West sunset portrait I have hanging up in my office. We were early for sunset, so we walked around the western tip of the terrestrial tag, found a nice sandy beach to get our feet wet, then turned back and headed back up the western side of the tag to where we parked, found a reasonable isolated outcropping of rock, sat down and patiently awaited the fireworks.
Since I promised a second post and there’s not much here, I’ll simply leave you with a few of the photos I shot last night – unfiltered and unedited.

After sunset, we headed back to the hotel and prepared for the next day – Adrienne is a bridesmaid, so she’ll be gone a big chunk of the day and I’ll be alone. There’s no telling what mischief I’ll get into!
Really?! I’m not clicking on any more links!! Good photos of you two.
